Agressive new rooster

I have roughly 26 chickens, 5 or 6 of which are roosters.

Your roosters will only have 3-4 hens each max providing all the hens are laying . My guess is they'll either fight (with less than 5-6 a piece) or gang up on them & over-mate them.

All of my roosters get along, except for this new one. He was attacking my dominant rooster, then picking on the disabled one in the segregation pen when I put them together, then he tried jumping up and pecking the other chickens who were sleeping on top of the cage.

Personally...I'd rehome this new boy. He sounds like trouble all the way around.

It's probably why you got him. The prior owners knew he was aggressive. It doesn't take mistreatment to cause a rank rooster. They are simply born with either good temperaments or poor ones. Sometimes, with careful handling, you can modify the behavior of a so-so rooster, but the aggressive boys just get more aggressive. They are quickly culled in my flock. You don't want to breed forward that temperament.

And you have too many roosters for that many hens. They'll be over mated even if the boys get along.

Sometimes you get a bird that just does not work in a flock. Sometimes it is a hen, sometimes a rooster, sometimes they will work in a different flock or in a different set up, but the real situation is he is not working for you and yours in the place that you have him.

Always solve for peace in the flock. Flocks with high tensions, a lot of aggression, are more prone to sickness, victim birds, and reduced egg laying.

I have seen perfectly happy flocks with as many roosters to hens that you have. They had a great deal of space, and lot of natural cover. They were peaceful and contented when I watched them. Which is what I imagine you have, however, this might give you the illusion that you can add any bird. That is not so. Some birds will fit fine, some will not.

IMO a new bird to a flock like that, should be the intimidated one, he should be giving way until he gets the sense of the flock. As he is immediately aggressive to the whole flock, I think he has no understanding of chicken society, and I would expect him to go more and more bazar. I would expect this bird to begin to attack people too.
