Hi, first time quail owner. i have 19 jap quail about 5 weeks old hatched from eggs. I just moved them to their outside 'hutch' couple days ago. Pic below
Went out this morning and there was blood everywhere :th.
One quail has a bit of blood on its face but when it walks it leaves blood and when I picked it up too look it had a drip of blood from its toe. Thinking blood on face is from scratching with bloody toe?
I have put it by its self and cleaned out cage. Is there anything else I should do? Bit later ill hav another look and get some photos.
Also what would cause it. I think I calculated my cage is good for 16 quail to 1sq foot. Over crowding? Also there is a possibility of rats? And the floor is wire could be possibly too smaller gauge. Think its 1/2 inch square but is quite thin wire. I have put couple dirt boxes some newspaper down too.

Here's some pics of her and the cage
It seems to be just dried blood i think? I tried to pick some off from around nostril but it didnt want to come off. 20180419_121335.jpg

But the feet are bloody cant see and obvious wounds only that one toe nail is a tad shorter could be the one i saw bleed

Ft Mr pecky that pecks my hand when ever I do anything.

I had a chicken dripping blood and for the life of me could not figure out where it was coming from. Finally after a month I found a wound on the tip of her wing. Check that little quail over thoroughly just to make sure it's not a hidden wound on the body and bloods running down the legs or something.

It stoped bleeding and i cleaned its legs up and it cleaned its own face. I cant find any thing other than the tip of a toe nail is missing and thats where i saw the drip of blood. I've put it back with the rest and its been fine. I did put more paper down over the wire to protect its feet abit if that was the problem.
