Ahhhh Ive Rescued Some Battery Hens!*pics*

It looks like Ruby is molting -- nothing to worry about, just a seasonal loss of old feathers and new feathers will grow in. The amount of molting varies from bird to bird, some get it bad, others barely lose any.

I would agree with Lothiriel - It just looks like she's molting, totally normal

Your girls seem like such sweeties! I wish I could find somewhere around here to adopt a battery hen or two. I'd love to see what kind of personalities they have.

Is there something going on with her besides the feather loss? I thought you were just trying to figure out the reason why she lost the feathers and were worried that one of the other girls might have attacked her...

Well i thaught she might have had lice or other hens were pulling her feathers out

Oh, this post brings back memories. I saved 2 battery hens as well although they set out on an adventure the instant we took them out. Ruby's looks has the head of one of mine and also has to body of one of my new hen :) They're so cute sitting like that, your mums so nice to have done that and by looking at your chickens, they were definitely not given very well treatment. Maybe you got them because they werent laying any eggs? Their faces looks very white. Congrats!

No they layed for 2 weeks after getitng them, Ruby was up in the feild with flora today! with her head heald high :)
