Good job resisting the urge to smack her.

They have to be under someone's control! They shouldn't have told you it wasn't their problem, they should have directed you to the appropriate channel to help the situation. That just makes me so mad when people don't make any effort to help someone who is trying to do the right thing. It is just ridiculous. I hope that the chicken rescue can help. I am in NC but I don't know how far you are away from us. If there is anything I can do to help let me know.

What a terrible story! State Ag is a good idea - they were really responsive when I had to call them once. Also like the idea of making it public. Go back, take a few pix and share them with local news. I bet they'll run it as a headline story tonight.
She should face charges of animal cruelty, abuse and neglect - and be permanently banned from owning any animal in the future. You and your friend did a good thing -

oh. my. god. I hate people who treat animals like this. its so mean, I just want to cry! thank you for calling animal rescue, hope you can help get those chickens off the property!

Mercy.....all you folks are doing everything but hanging the hag, but what about the ignored chickens? Somebody in NC needs to seize the moment and tell the woman if she doesn't relinquish the the chickens you will prosecute her. It don't have to be true, just get the chickens out of that squalo. I've seen dogs and horses in the same conditions. It's ugly.

I left a message with the state agriculture, hope they will call me back.! Me and the lady from carolina rescue are gonna go out there with a vet. I have call Fox carolina news and I hope they do go public. I'm gonna try to get some pictures! I look at my little spoiled chicks and cry for those chickens! I have even called the hatchery where she claims to have gotten them!

Good for you! I would like to put the culprit in a small cage with no food or water! As the saying goes...an eye for an eye. I think those that commit terrible deeds should suffer the same type of treatment. Ok, ok. I'll climb down off my soap box for now.

Wow. Good thing your checking up on the chickens and others...... owners like that should not be allowed to own any kind of animal!!

The only time I have been guilty of theft was when I saw a cocker spaniel in a pen in an animal hoarders yard. In a pen with a dead male, and her legs were matted together so she hopped like a rabbit. The animal people said they would go out in a couple of weeks to check it out, so that night I hopped the fence and took her. I don't consider it theft, I consider it caring and loving. They did come out 2 weeks later and take the rest of the animals, but that girl I rehabilitated myself and placed her in a fantastic home.
