I am new to chickens but have a fine mentor, my niece, Jenny, who introduced me to BackYard Chickens. I live in Burnet, Texas near Lake Buchanan. As far as I know, I am the only one in our little community to have chickens. We just got a Tractor Supply in the area which made it an easy start to get chicks and all the necessities. I did get my Coop from Roost and Root in Dripping Springs, Tx. and highly recommend them for the quality and long lasting construction. I got 5 chicks about 7 weeks ago and they look and act like teenagers now. Two are Blue Wynadottes and 3 are Gold Lace Wyndottes. I am enjoying their different personalities and each has a name. Bluey (he is a rooster I am pretty sure), Sylvia, Bits, Jenny and Chocolate. We have always fostered and adopted boxers and our old girl, Ida, just passed away. Now it's just my husband and I and the chickens.
I am glad to have this forum to get questions answered and to contribute as I am able. Thank you.
