Airlines and carry-on eggs

Imp- I guess only large dogs have to risk explosion.

I have seen on some airlines' rules websites that you are allowed to have a companion animal with you on your seat while you fly, for your own comfort. They listed dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, fish, pigs, and even small ponies (what counts as small? lol) as being allowed to fly in the cabin with their owner! I think you had to purchase an extra seat if the animal couldn't sit in your lap, just like with small kids. That was a few years ago, not sure if it is still allowed now.

I would hesitate to put eggs in a checked bag; they can get a lot of rough handling, even aside from the x-ray. Last time I flew, when I got to the hotel and opened my suitcase, I found that it had been pretty heavily damaged on the corners and bottom from being dragged around and/or thrown, and it appeared that they had unlocked the little lock on the zipper, opened the bag up, dug through the clothes, and then put them all back in in a different order! The bag was full enough that even throwing around shouldn't have caused much shifting, and definitely not complete reordering of how things were packed. I can only imagine how well eggs would take something like that! I've watched them load baggage onto planes, and they are not gentle. It flies through the air a lot.

They were all fairly small dogs and were asked to keep them under the seat. All were well behaved, didn't even know about 3 of them till we were getting off. There was a tiny hound puppy in the seat ahead of me. It kept trying to howl. very funny.

You bring to mind that well wrapped eggs in a suitcase might get misinterpreted as a bomb, if found. Probably not a good idea. At least you'd make the national news.

I think the idea it to get them through minus pressure loss that can rupture the air cell, and the rough handling. The USPS isn't going to treat them well, unless you get real lucky and bypass Igor the Mad Handler.

I believe that there are lots of Igors living in Alaska.

Imp- Have they closed the hunting season on them?

Generally stuff that isn't x-rayed is inspected by hand. They probably checked that the eggs were all intact and nothing else was in the cooler. The only reason we can't have liquids on the plane is because they can be made into explosive devices. Having them checked below the plane is pretty harmless. As long as they didn't see wires running between the eggs, they were probably satisfied. They may have even taken the eggs out and x-rayed the cooler. I've seen them do that with cat carriers.

Well, I read that dogs under 21" (or was it 23"?) tall could ride with you, because they could fit under the seats....larger dogs had to be shipped with luggage, which I will not do to my dog.

Anyway, my dog is SHORT enough, but she'd never fit under a seat! LOL
If you could imagine a Lab size body with Beagle length legs.....

I have never traveled on a plane with eggs, however, whenever I go someplace by plane, I only take one duffle bag of stuff on board. If I get there and buy like gifts and stuff, I always mail anything that I cannot fit in my luggage home. It is usually there byt he time you get home.

i have never flone anywhere but dont they mail eggs and chicks from hatcherys??? So wouldn't it be safer to mail them?
