Airplane wings?

Thanks Featherfinder and Sourland!! Still thinking about her......not sure. But when I talked to the shelter I found out she has a buddy that looks like her (with normal wings) that she is getting attached to! So, do I take two or separate them. If I separate them, the other one still has duck buddies. But really, I don't think I can do that and I am not sure if 8 ducks might be a bit much. IDK.....will think for a bit more.

Um, still not sure. I definitely want them both. But I am not sure if 8 is too many for the space we have in the shed. They certainly will not be crunched in, but I don't know if it might be a little small for all of them. It is approximately 6'x6.5' (maybe a touch bigger) and there is a shelf that hubby built for the muscovies, which they don't use. But it actually would make more floor space if some of them were on it. (does that make sense?) So, I think we are ok.
Also, waiting for the right moment to start the discussion on MORE ducks.

Had some time to logically think this out. I am not sure getting them will be a good idea. We had that mink attack a while back and it made me rethink getting more ducks. The ducks we have now are in the shed at night, which is secure. I have an area in our barn that I put the new ducks in for a bit to acclimate and to make sure they are healthy and also to get them used to the other ducks. Problem is that it is not totally predator proof. I never thought about minks or weasels before. I can shut part of the barn up and it is safe from foxes, raccoons, etc, but mink can get in to the area where the ducks would be. In almost 11 years it has never been a problem except that one time, but I am too scared to take the chance with getting more ducks and having something happen. I really want them, but I just feel like it might be too dangerous for the week that they have to spend in there.
There has been no evidence of the mink returning. But maybe I am just missing it. So, I guess I have to do the right thing and not bring any more ducks here. I tried to figure out how to keep them in the stall temporarily and keep them safe, but there is no way to completely predator proof it against something that can get into very small spaces. Too big an area. The larger animals would have to get into a horse stall, over two doors and into the stall to get them and I don't think they could do that with my horses in the stalls. They would drive them out. But the weasels can climb and get into the barn easily and the horses would not even notice.
I am really bummed, I so wanted these girls................I really hate that mink for ruining my peace of mind.

I know that was scary when that mink came by, a couple summers ago one of out hens went into the woods and sat on 10 eggs we looked every where for her but 21 days later here she comes with 10 baby chicks, that eve. we could not convince her to take them into the coop, and sometime around 1:am I heard an awful noise, went out and a mink had gotten ahold of her and I couldn't find any chicks, She dies and the mink must have gotten 6 of the chicks but the next morning I was able to find 4 of them and raised them in the house, so i am very familar with minks. Maybe you'll be able to some how fortify your area and be able to keep them out, I am wanting more ducks and a couple of geese too, but my space is limited right now and I won't commit unless i have a secure space for them. It's very hard especially when you know they need a good home. Hopefully someone else will adopt them and give them a great life.
