ALABAMA!!

Tom: they are looking good...are those wishers grandbabies?

Yessir.

I banded 5 today that I am pretty convinced are little cockerels. Big feet, very pronounced combs and an attitude to match. Will be interesting to see if I'm right. A few more were questionable, pea combs are hard to judge. Probably going to be 50/50 so 7 or 8 of each.

50/50 is pretty much what mother nature provides

I've heard folks complain they seem to get all of one or another. Some folks that want roosters only get hens

On another note. Not sure if anyone heard about the Domino's driver that got killed.

Thanks for the pics, TTM, They are looking good. I moved the ones I have from that hatch out to the coop yesterday. They are in the enclosed room on the side, with the windows covered with plastic and a heat lamp. I have not tried to determine gender on any of the (7) black ones, but I saw one of the Campines attempting to crow, so I have at least one male in that bunch! I had three more Campines hatch yesterday. I found them in the bottom of the cabinet incubator...Opps! I was distracted by Christmas and forgot they were due to hatch. I failed to move them to the hatcher and they just hatched in the turner, while it was turning, and fell about seven inches to the bottom of the incubator. Three were due, three hatched, and the only problem is that the bottom of the incubator is slick and they have to have hobbles to correct splay-leg. Otherwise, they are fine!

I hope everyone had a wonderfully peaceful Christmas.

They're quite a lively bunch! Some of them can fly quite well already. I just can't wait to see them feather out all the way. And those funny goggle faces. The eye markings are really funny.

Awwww.....PEEPS! Aren't they cute little things. I couldn't resist and set Nankin eggs a few days back
