I moved my ducks out about 10 days ago. They were 3 weeks old. Now they have buddied up with older ducks and roam the homestead. I normally turn chickens out 3 to 4 weeks regardless of weather. Shelter is there for them

Anyone know if there is still a band on poltry sales
yes there is a ban still in effect. I was told by the dept. Of agraculture that we can sell out of our homes but not at anything with a group environment. We can sell chicks, eggs and chickens. Call state dept of agraculture 334-240-7100 to be sure.

Every time I get ready to set them up in their coop, here comes a severe weather warning! I'm just not that brave yet! But this is supposed to be our last cold weekend. *fingers crossed*

The ducks are adorable!

I'm trying! It would be easier to put them outside if I hadn't seen what a racoon did to my son's flock last summer. Idk if you've ever experienced that before, but we found out that they don't kill just because they're hungry. :/ and I wasn't really sure how sturdy their little prefab coop would be, if we really got severe weather. *sigh* I have control issues. :/

I have seen raccoon skunk and dogs foxes and cototes and recently fended off a redtail hawk from attacking. That was just being in the right place at the right time. My neighbor had been warned i will spend a dollar on his dog. That goes for for any other varmit. A bear might be able to get in my tractors and coops, they'll have to use some effort. I open them at daybreak and close them around sunset- sometimes in the dark

I had to kill my neighbors dog and i called animal control they came and picked up the dog took it to him and fined him 500.00 dollars. He came to my house and paid me 200.00 for the chickens his dog killed. I left him laying in the pin. Thats where animal control found him. Dont be scared. It still hurt my heart to have to kill my neighbors dog. Make sure you take pictures.
