ALABAMA!!

I want to invite you to come to Tuscaloosa. If you will try it here one weekend, I will give you the grand tour, all the tourist attractions and all the places only the locals know.

I just read your tag (if that's what they call it). This is my solution to chickens in my garden and I'd be more than happy to help you do it to yours if I come down. You can't see it but there is 2 foot chicken wire around the bottom. Works for all but the smallest chickens.

Funny thing happened this morning. I was out next to the chicken pen, using a cordless drill. You know the whirly/grrrrr/hum sound it makes. I hear a weird noise and think my drill is messing up. I stop, but the sound continues, I turn and look at the pen. Momma game/phoenix hen has her neck feathers puffed out, her neck stretched straight up, and she sounds just, i mean JUST LIKE the cordless drill. She had modified her clattery growl that she does to match the EXACT sound of the drill.

Hello there, friends. I currently live in Michigan but there is a chance we could move to Tuscaloosa. If so, we would probably live outside of the city. Any recomendations on area? We currently keep 10 hens. The more rural the better, for me, but, if we had to live in town, are chickens allowed?

Hi, Cat, and welcome to the Alabama thread! I am excited that you may be moving to Tuscaloosa! University? Mercedes? Hunt? I can help you with questions and such. My recommendation is to look west and north of Tuscaloosa in the county if you want to keep your chickens. There is an ordinance against chickens inside the city limits. You can have them, but they have to be 300(?) feet from the property line. Don't hold me to that distance, but it is such that it is nearly impossible to have a lot that big in town. I know the best real estate person in town and will PM you if needed.

Why are you coming down? Point being, my son is in the military and being transferred to Canada. Just wondered if you're in the military.
