ALABAMA!!

Fred update....

He is doing much better today!!!! Eyes look clear and he is up and walking more. Hubby did some research online and decided to give him St. John's Wart, figured if it didn't help it wouldn't hurt. He is also on antibiotic water. I fixed him a boiled egg this morning and he loved it!!!! And it was so nice to hear him crowing early this morning, and all through out the morning....lol.

We kept him in the living room last night cause he didn't seem to have the energy to go anywhere, figured it was pretty safe. So now he roams around, and lays around the living room. He has gone to the storm door and crowed when he saw the others outside. Hubby told him that if he was gonna be a "house chicken" until he got better he needed to learn to keep it down...lol. Figure I'll keep him inside for at least a few more days and see how he progresses. Thanks for all the help and advice!!!!!

I am about to wring his neck.... my rooster, that is.

He's been crowing nonstop.. he's plucking all the girls.. I put him in with the dogs yesterday and he flew back to the girls. *grumble*

I believe he is becoming dinner real soon.

Ok I didn't do a video this time because I got too excited, but I did take pics of the eggs. SilkieSensation sent me 8 call duck eggs and 40 Coturnix quail (Texas A&M, Jumbo Brown, and regular). One is cracked, but I'm not worried about it. What's one out of 40?

Black giants, white leggings, RIR , and some Domaneakers that are not shown jere because they are only 2 weeks old. We will be selling off any extra roosters we may have. Which looks like a lot becaude i think we ended up with around 6 extra on the Rhode Island Reds ... none i dont think on the whites which we have a rooster for and maybe 2 or 3 on the Americonas which arent shown here.

h and i must not forget our lonrly Tom my brod bronze breasted turkey .. speaking of does anyone know where I can find this fellow a hen?

There's a rooster in the kitchen in a pet carrier...

He's started around 5ish with his nonstop crowing... and has been doing so all morning. But, atleast he's inside.

I almost killed him, literally. But that sorta thing is more of a two person job. Just couldn't do it by myself. And honestly I do feel bad. It's not his fault he's a rooster. And he's really quite sweet. I held him for a while and stroked his face. Then I poured him a beer.

Yes, I poured him a beer. I'm sure he needed one, after he realized he was hanging over a bucket with a knife on his neck.

These are the sad realities of chicken keeping.. sure you can bring them to someone else and pretend it doesn't happen... but I feel it's my responsibility to take care of a nuisance. But I'd much rather get him a home in the country with some lady friends. Especially since he is a sweet boy, just having to learn how to ask a lady if he may please climb on her back, instead of just grab 'n go. And the noise.. but that too may be a teenage rooster thing.
