ALABAMA!!

Thank you to so many for the warm words of welcome! We look forward to becoming a part of this community. :) we are getting ready to transition into a fall garden. Which is much more low maintenance, and will give us much more chicken time. There seems to always be some sort of building, expansion, or improvement going on around these parts. Turkey pens need made. A new outdoor brooder, more grow out pens. The organism that is the chicken homestead.

Who likes stinky poop? I most assuredly do not!

I started out feeding my chicks tucker milling medicated chicke starter in the green bag and had no problems. At 12 weeks I bought a 50# bag or pride and pleasure chick starter/grower and now we have stinky poop!

Our poop used to be solid dark colored and relatively odorless and now our poop is soft yellowish and stinky.

We have no signs of illness so it must be the feed! Anyone have experience with these feed mills and thier feeds. I'm kind of scared now to change them over to layer in a few weeks. I don't want it to get worse!

Switch back to tucker. its all i use for starter.

Morning all!! I'm in need of some information. I purchased some chickens from a gentleman named Dale Owens that lives on Hwy 231 outside of Ashville, Alabama. I need to get in touch with him and I've lost his number. I can't find him in directory assistance. Does anyone here know Dale and how to contact him? Thanks in advance.

Welcome,  I am glad to hear about local farms.  I might want to come visit you.  My sister might as well.  We both homeschool and our animals are part of our school.  Going to local farms helps support us as well can teach the kids more than what we know.   We all learn!!

Also if anyone on or near sand mtn have any silver or gold laced Wyandotte, or light brahma can you contact me.   My sister, mom and I would like to have some.   I wouldn't mind having chicks.

Thanks
we are transitioning to our fall garden right now so things aren't very interesting. Lots of corn, okra, herbs and tomatoes mostly. We plan on homeschooling Cedar when he is old enough. (he will be 1 the first week of august my how they grow) it is important that children understand and exposed to.the organism that is the small farm! Thank you for your welcome! I have a friend in double springs that may have wyandotte hatching eggs if you are interested. He has gold and silver laces. I have blue laced red but they won't start laying hatching quality eggs for a few months.
