I can literally say I have shed blood for my birds. This was yesterday as I wrangled chicken wire in place for the overhead cover. That stuff is sharp.

Yes I would be interested. My sister has blue laced. She was trying to sale or trade one or two of her roos. Very pretty birds. We love homeschooling, and the umbrella school we are under. Homeschooling made me realize some of the things that my son was missing out on certain things. He has learned so much just this year.we are transitioning to our fall garden right now so things aren't very interesting. Lots of corn, okra, herbs and tomatoes mostly. We plan on homeschooling Cedar when he is old enough. (he will be 1 the first week of august my how they grow) it is important that children understand and exposed to.the organism that is the small farm! Thank you for your welcome! I have a friend in double springs that may have wyandotte hatching eggs if you are interested. He has gold and silver laces. I have blue laced red but they won't start laying hatching quality eggs for a few months.

Wow, thanks! I might have known I'd get no sympathy from the Marine...(just kidding)...I mostly took the picture to make my hubby feel sorry for me since I did the entire thing by myself yesterday. I spent most of my day yesterday (from 7am - 7pm) about 8 feet off the ground, at the tippy top of a ladder, with a pneumatic stapler in one hand and chicken wire in the other. When I finished I looked like I had gone a few rounds with a wild cat - scratches and holes in both arms and both legs. It was just WAY too hot to wear long pants or long sleeves so I paid the price.
HA! HA! Stubborn is one of the nicer ways my husband has of referring to my independent streak! I come by it honest though. I was raised by a father who wanted sons but got two daughters instead. He was at a loss as to how to deal with all that estrogen but instead taught me anything and everything I was willing to learn that was NOT what you'd typically teach a little girl i.e. power tools, firearms, gardening, farming, beekeeping, camping, etc. To my knowledge, I'm the only kid (boy or girl) who ever took a pig's tail to our local elementary school for show and tell. Daddy brought one home for me and my sister to show us that when you kill a pig, the curl goes out of it's tail. I thought that was fascinating and just had to show my friends...they were not as fascinated as I was though.
Sounds like you all are carrying on the "family tradition", each adding a unique branch here and there...Sounds like my dad, except with music. He wanted musically inclined children but got me and my sis. My sis can sing but neither of us took up his mantle. But he is proud of our little farms and is following in our footsteps. He finally got some chickens. lol Now if only we would follow in his. He plays with the Kings of Swings here in Gadsden and man is he good. And I don't say that because I am his daughter either(I like to brag).
