ALABAMA!!

It won't be for long, but we are finally home!

I can finally update everyone on what has happened over the past weeks that I've been on here on and off.

As everyone that was here about a month ago knows I had my son on June 10th and came home that Wednesday. The next dad Blu was off to Daytona with his oldest brother to find a job so he could support us. Disaster struck that Friday. SJ had his first appointment and my SIL took us to it. After we came out the door we had to go to the building across the parking lot. Child Protection Services. We've had a minor pest problem for the past few years because my SIL won't clean up after the girls more than half the time and to make things worst the man that handled our case needs to be fired. Someone Blu thought was his friend basically tried to have SJ taken from us. Why? I still don't understand that. She made a fatal error though. Blu and I were the only ones mentioned by name and the quail were mentioned. It was pretty stupid of her to think that we wouldn't know who it was. We don't have many friends come by the house and she was the only one that had been inside and even then it was just to see the quail eggs. My family was ripped apart as my SIL and 3 nieces had to move to Grady with her mother. I had to move across town to my cousins' house with SJ.

Now, my cousins only buy food when THEY realize there isn't anything to eat, so I have had to live off of one meal a day. I'd say I pretty lucky my hypoglycemia didn't kick in. As soon as my 2nd cousin and her grandmother got back from Iowa, I knew i was in for it. I had to endure weeks of hearing them talk about me behind my back. They apparently think I'm def. Then the other morning my cousin (first) comes up from the basement (where he lives) and wakes me up by cussing at me. SJ had just started crying when he reached the top of the stairs, so it wouldn't have been long and I would have opened my eyes, but for some reason he decided to scream at me about taking care of my son.

I kept my mouth shut and took care of SJ. I called my mom and she in turn called CPS to come out and say if I could come home.

So here I am now. I still can't believe everything that's happened. I leave for Daytona Beach on the first and I plan to keep up with everything that goes on here.
Raz, I am so sorry you guys have had to go through all of this! Hopefully Blu will be able to find a good job so things will get better soon for you all!

Welcome to BYC. I am from Bellwood/Chancellor/Enterprise. We could always bet on Opp for a good football game. What military?

. Oh lord, when I went to Opp, we had to watch out during our games with Andalusia. Big rivalry there and lots of fights! My husband is in the army. Hoping to be stationed at Rucker again. I miss Alabama!

I'm sorry Raz, sounds like you have had a really hard time. I pray that Blu will find a good job and you and he can provide a home to care for little SJ. I'm here if you need to talk.

He actually found a really good job with great benefits. Found out a bit ago that I'll be leaving around the 1st of next month.
I wasn't here a month ago, but I am glad everything is starting to look up. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck in your new place.
Thank you. We'll be coming back as soon as we can. We hope to only be there for 2 years max. The main reason for moving was to help his mom since she has seizures.

Well my coop is finally finished! All that's left to do is paint it and put the birds in. I've been trying to put them outside for a bit the last two days. The first day I put them in they none of them moved they stayed still until I picked them up and put them back in their kennel. Tonight was funnier as they were more active. Is it weird that I'm paranoid to keep them over night in there? Lol I just don't want to wake up the next morning and them be gone!! I know I am suppose to just keep them inside the coop for the first week or so until they distiguish that that is home. Anyone have any tips for their big day tomorrrow:lol: I have 2 vents (open squares on the side of the coop with chicken wire, we also have a piece of wood with a patch on them so we can close them and open them as needed ) do I leave them open at night I'm so scared something is going to break in, but I suppose they have to breath lol.

Brie, I hate to tell you this, but chicken wire is not predator proof. A coon, dog, or possum can rip right through it. You should use 1/2 inch hardware cloth on those vents and make sure they are screwed down good and tight. I use wood screws and small washers every 4 or 5 inches. As long as the coop is secure, you can (and should)leave the vents open all the time, even in the winter.

I understand, I keep mine in the garage at night as long as I can get away with it. DH starts asking when they are moving when they are messing up their litter every day. We need pictures!!!!
