ALABAMA!!

Okay everyone!! I broke down and getting some A&M Quails. I know it's not chickens. The English Orpingtons I want are way too expensive!!! I can get eggs slightly cheaper but as you guys know my incubators were murdered.

I'm getting more than I'm expected. 14 adults quails!!!

Now that I'm getting them I remember why I hated owning quails. I had a button that use to crow at 4am in the morning. The day he died was the happiest day of my life.
Been told I can cull the males and my problem would be solved. In theory I'm all for it but deep down inside I'm a coward( I would never survive in nature!!)

Going to pick them up tomorrow.

I had a A&M hatch from my bunch of eggs. Coturnix males are kinda lazy when they have their own set of girls. Remember to keep at least 2 females to one male and 6 to 1 at most. You can keep multiple males together so long as there are enough girls for each of them. My 2 cages consist of 3 males and 3 females in one (they're still young and the girls just started laying) and 1 males with 3 females in the other.

So far I'm enjoying my quails. The males are still too shock from the move to crow yet

They are older than I thought. About 10 months old so I don't think they will be laying for too much longer. However, I've already collected a dozen eggs. Too bad I don't have an incubator. Would have loved to be able to hatch some baby quail chicks. Anyone south of Birmingham want the eggs? They probably are A&M mix.

Thanks you Raz for you post. I planning to downsize the flock due to their age but wasn't sure how many male to keep with the female(provided I sex them correctly).

Will try to post some pictures when I have time.

Hello, my wife (Trinity) and I (Clint) are new to the chicken world. We are from Andalusia Alabama. We have six barred rock chickens, three Rhodeisland red chickens, and two Americaunas we have raised from chicks. They are just now about five months old. We acquired four Phoenix hens that is already laying. So far we have received about a dozen eggs.
