ALABAMA!!

It's my Avatar for my Noisy Cricket Farm Page on Facebook. :) We own Noisy Cricket Farm. Sometimes it is more like the funny farm...lol

Love it!! :thumbsup Don't forget to send us some pics of your chicks!!!

I had a determined broody, Columbian Wyandotte, caved in, set 14 under her, and she is doing her magic thing! Hopefully I'll have some new chickies in a few weeks....now you just know that hubby is "thrilled"! heehee

Well, my broody abandonned her eggs today. I can't blame her, she is TINY. She was broody for 2 weeks before I got her eggs and I think she had to choose between herself or her babies from the looks of her. She's running around the yard scrounging for bug right now.

I took the eggs and put them under a heat lamp and one just started pipping! Isn't that just the craziest thing? She abandoned them hours before hatching. They're at day 19, but I guess this one is early. I was thinking the egg was cracking, because it's too hot in there (temp got up to 110F for a minute... this was an emergency makeshift incubator lol), but I held it to my ear and I heard scratching inside. Temps down now... we'll see.

Now to fatten my chicken back up. She's half the size of my other white rocks. She looks like a little cockerel.

Are you sure she abandon it or just taking a break? When my orps were broody she left the eggs at least 2 or 3 times a day to eat and drink. Those were the only time I had time to candle the eggs. I miss my orps.
