ALABAMA!!

400
new model brinsea came out today. Had to get it

I may still decide to process them all, later on.

I am in no shape to do so right now. Heck, I got dishes stacked miles high as it is... Swollen feet and out of breath when I so much think of doing something make it hard to get anything done. Culling a flock of birds is not on the agenda right now. Either way it's going to have to wait.

I put the sick bird back with the others, since I have birds that sound just as bad now.... kind of pointless to isolate her. The flock order has been disrupted though, she got into a chest bump fight with another bird. They were grabbing eachother by the neckfeathers and cheeks/wattles. She seems to have a few bruised areas on her face now

They've settled down since.

As time progresses I am more willing to accept that I may have to start over.. fix some weak spots in my approach and my coop.. make sure they have more shelter from rain.. build that grow out coop I had planned on (which likely would have avoided all this mess... although it's hard not to wonder if they weren't carriers from day one). It's good I have to wait a while either way... weigh my options. It's very possible they were carriers to begin with.

I'm sorry the hear that more of your chicken has come down with a cough.
Being more pets with benefits than livestock, I'm so to hear that the chances of culling them is becoming higher.
I think you have the right approach right now.
But the most important thing right now is you need to take care of yourself!!!

I have got to move some chicks! I have thirty or so two week olds, forty or so week olds, and two hatchers full today (another 60ish chicks.) If you know of anyone wanting to get started with chickens these would be great for beginners. They are healthy and from sturdy stock. Most are blue egg layers and the parents were not mixed breed (the chicks are F1 crosses.)

I am selling (all but the Black Orpingtons) straight runs for 3/$5. The BkOs are $5 each. If you know of someone that would be interested, PM me and I will give you my phone number to pass along to them.

Thanks for your help.

Stop hatching!

Would love to have a bunch of your babies, but certainly not in any position to do so.

Anyway.

The chicks have finally fallen ill as well. I think the constant changing weather is doing a number on all of them. They're fluffed up, shivering, coughing... one even walks a bit funny, I think it's trying to pull BOTH legs up to try and keep it's feet warm

.I put an extra heat lamp in their area. They're drinking a lot, so now they're pooping water (not watery diarrhea, actual water).. and being dumb chicks they're trying to drink eachothers poop now
