Orp, Love the video. He is a very sweet boy and my boys have enjoyed playing with him.

The girls are doing well. I love them already.

Yes! I get all light brown eggs hard to tell who is laying and who isn't.

I have 8 light brown layers. 4 I can still pick out by egg shape and slight variation in color. The other 4 are a little more difficult. I think 3 of them lay 1 egg a day between them.

I have one that lays UNDER the nest boxes, so she's easy. I believe my JG and white rocks lay a paler egg... the others is just guess work.

Where are my eggs, ladies? Last year we got 6-8 daily... now getting 6 is a really good day. They're all pretty panty though.. it got hot out there. They've got shade, but I suppose it doesn't do too much.

I'm so glad to be back. Yesterday we had to fix the door to the old coop so the ducklings can't get out and after we got that finished we moved the chickens into the empty coop. Henny looks really pitiful with all her missing feathers.

The drake took a lot of feathers off the girls.

There is one thing bugging me though. When I left my girls wouldn't let you anywhere near them. Now if I put my hand through the fence Jazzy starts preening me while I pet her and the other girls will let me touch them. Where did my skittish chickens go?

I can't complain, I like them better this way.

these are practice eggs from a friend. He wants chicks and i need experience incubating. Wisher has been coaching me. Shes cool as a fan. They are pretty eggs but the chickens are hideous looking. I asked him what breeds lay his blue eggs and he called em junk yard dogsfrom the leroy brown line.
