ALABAMA!!

Arvanah, Looks like the egg membrane. If you found it like that in a nest then you probably had a hen to lay an egg without a shell. Can happen for lots of reason. You might want to increase calcium.

HELP! Need some help from anyone in north central Alabama (I'm near Athens/Huntsville) who uses sand in their coop and/or run. WHERE do you purchase sand around here that doesn't break the bank????

We are completing our coop and run within the next few weeks and, after reading extensively on this site, we have decided we want to use sand in both the coop and the run. Unfortunately, the cheapest I can find so far is $34 per yard (1.25 tons) and that's NOT delivered. For the amount of sand I need, that's going to run me well over $200 and I have to haul it myself in just a standard F150 pickup - that will take me like 12 trips. Does anyone on here know of a place that sells masonry sand or river sand for cheaper than that and that might deliver for a decent price???
