ALABAMA!!

Am I the only one that gets nervous about this egg incubating ! I don't remember being this nervous when my kids were born! Then again I didn't have a 7 year old hounding me about when her babies are going to be here... I LOVE IT...

Absolutely not! I have been hatching for years. I currently do staggered hatches so I have eggs hatching about once a week and any day I don't have chicks is a bad day.

Tomtom, thanks but I already contacted them...it would run me close to $500 to get the amount of sand I need delivered to me as Phil Campbel is 90 miles from where we are. The $12.00 per ton is only if I owned my very own dump truck and could pick it up myself.

Tricky folks :p Trying to lure you in with the 'We deliver anywhere'.

Lowes and Home Depot would be too expensive, bagged sand costs even more.

I do know you can rent trucks from Lowes, Home Depot and some other rental places.. but still, 90 miles would add up quick.

My daughter just came running into the kitchen screaming scared me until the words "a baby chicken is out" came out of her mouth yes it is our first time incubating and it's the first baby out. O yea I am one happy dad with one very happy daughter or AKA from now on chicken momma ......

Can anyone tell me how long shoul I leave the babies in the incubator?
Should I put them in the brooder as they dry?
Depends on whether you have other eggs about to hatch. If you do it is best to leave the incubator closed. The babies are ok without food and water for up to 48 hours. I try to wait until several have hatched and dried.

I agree. I leave them in there if there is some that have pipped. Sometimes though if I don't like how much the chicks are rolling the other eggs around I will open it real quick and grab them out. I like them to dry off too.
