you should post pictures of your mystery chicks, everyone usually has good fun in trying to guess what breed something is. The month old mark is a lot of fun! I bet you guys have a great time watching the peeps interact!
To be honest, things are a little soggy. Lots of rain last night and threatening to rain this morning. So coffee, strawberries, and grits are a necessity. It's my husband's only full off day during the week so we will probably stay in and play with the baby, change the brooder litter, cut kitty and dog toe nails, things of a peaceful nature.how about yourself?
exactly! I used to talk to my husband about the maximum cat capacity of our house. (turns out to be 6 lol) now we talk about building new coops to expand the peep population. I figure its a much more healthful vice than some.Everyone needs a hobby of sorts. Mine has become raising chickens, I guess. I've found it's kind of like jewelry for a lady or fishing lures for a guy--you can never have too much.

Hello, all. I have raised--and unfortunately lost on occasion--chickens for about 8 years now. I am not new to BYC but haven't posted in a long time. I'm glad to have found this thread of folks from Alabama. Our 5 acres is about 17 miles southwest of Montgomery in Lowndes county and we're about 5 miles as the crow flies from the Hyundai plant. I just finished putting in a floor to a coop I built last fall, a pic of which appears in my avatar and it's also in the Gallery. I hope to become a regular poster now that I'm retired. I just got in a bunch of chicks to replace a flock lost to stray dogs. I'll post pics of them when I can. Most of them came from the Ideal Hatchery. They included some chicks in the shipment for warmth that appear to be Barred Rocks so I may have some BR roosters to trade or give away in the future. Hope to get to know some of you soon so we can trade stories about our chicken experiences. Thanks.

Hello! It is about that time where we thin through Yeh Roosters! I have several black jersey giants, blue lace res wyandottes, a tetra tint and a barred rock roo. All need homes relatively soon. We are in Parrish, so close to Jasper and not too terribly far from Birmingham etc. Pm me if interested. All are beautiful, healthy birds. I just don't need an extra 10+ Roosters.
