Waiting patiently for mine.. they're squatting a bunch when you try to get them, so I have good hopes.

I was missing one of my white rocks today, I thought for sure a hawk had gotten her.. fiance found her across the street in the neighbors yard

Got her back and not a minute later I see 4 hawks/vultures circling....

It was about 2 weeks for the egg after the first squat for us. Yeah we have a few hawks in our area, the girls are getting use to it, but they are always enclosed. Saw the hawk pick up a huge rabbit their her day. Mean little sucker.

Two of my new babies! I believe they are Dutch Bantams. The little one is Mickey, the cockerel. He likes to sleep on his girl. I've also seen him take his beak and work his way under her wing several times. I'm in love with the bantams.

Any suggestions on what type they are if not Dutch?

This weekend I lost my favorite Splash silkie chick to my sister's dog.

My fault. Took dog outside to potty. Thought she came in with the rest of the dogs. She didn't. Unsupervised she took liberty and killed a chick.

Then I went to check out if the other were okay. They were fine. However, noticed that 1 of the chick has a cross-beak. Never noticed it before and I don't think the chick got it from an injury or such. I thinks it's genetic. My question is can it be corrected?

Not a good weekend

Well, Jadzia did it. She was screeching this agonized "Baaaawk" this morning.. found her in the nest box. I let the other birds out, shut the door and let her have her space. Came back out a while later and found this adorable little egg.

Poor thing looked like she had a hard time with it all. She's my least healthy looking chicken (she goes through bouts of dhiarrea and her legs look always somewhat pale, some days more than others. Her toes are curled and her comb is a mismatched mess. Kind of accepted she's just not that healthy a chicken.) I'm glad she passed that egg, Lord knows she'd been squatting and agonizing about it for the longest time LOL.

Let's hope the rest is inspired to follow her lead!
