Thank you much! I love the fact that your location is Turkeyland btw. We have a place called Turkey Heaven Mountain here.

As promised, here's some pictures of my new babies.

Here's my favorite B.A., Checker, God bless her poor crooked toes.

Thanks for the pics, AParmer :)

Well, found egg number 2 today... under the highest roost, smooshed. Not sure if it was Jadzia's, or Ezri's (Ezri's behind looked like she laid an egg or was about to lay one.. rather wet). I scooped it up and threw it in the compost, where Ezri ate it.. so I wonder if maybe she smooshed it herself.

Fried them up two eggs with garlic powder and red pepper flakes.. Maybe they needed a little protein (the seasonings disguise it, so they don't associate scrambled eggs with their eggs, and it can help with intestinal ickies)

We ate our little bitty eggie today. I fried it, and one store bought egg and we did a little taste comparison. They both tasted like egg, but storebought had a bit of an aftertaste, while our eggie tasted like just egg, clean.. no funny flavors. It was adorably tiny too. A yolk the size of a grape

It was also nice and orange, while my store bought eggs are kind of pale yellow.

Love that coloring on the grey and brown one!

Well, my mystery has been solved. Jadzia layed her second egg in the same nestbox, while I was in the coop with her (I'm a supportive chicken mom

) She was rolling the fake egg around and sitting on it, rolling, sitting etc. I was thinking "Oh, Lord, one egg and you go broody, huh?" I was feeding her blackberries (gotta reward my girl for her hard work). And about 15 minutes later she laid another egg. Sooo, Ezri must have laid the other one I found under the roost (or one of the other birds, but I am betting on Ezri).

Jadzia gave me a perfect little egg this time around. She sat on it for a while, and then let me take it from under her (afraid she'd eat it.. or one of the other girls would). Glad she's such a docile thing.

I feel like I just defused a bomb. I had to come back to the home today for a phone call and dad decided I needed to go get the eggs out of what used to be the RIR pen. The eggs built up during my last few months of pregnancy and no one else would collect them. So today I got to go deal with who knows how old eggs. They ALL exploded (as in audible pop rather than 'I accidentally dropped an egg') on contact with the ground in the woods. I hate to leave plastic bags out there, but I am NOT touching that bag for the next 6 months.

Congrats on all the new birds and first eggs! I only have one hen I'm waiting for an egg from and Henny seems content not to lay.

Heehee, yuk!! Welcome back Mommy and baby too!! :highfive:

Thank you all so much!

I'm interested in getting some fertilized eggs if anyone is near or around east central AL. I've got my bator stabilized and ready. I'm ready for the next learning step with my chickens. Though none of my girls are laying yet.
