ALABAMA!!

I have to ask. What do you do with a turkey? Aside from eating?
You can sell the hatching eggs or poults or raise some to put in the freezer. But in the city it would be more difficult.

I had just put it on! She scratched at it a couple of times, then forgot about it. It didn't bother her at all once she got used to it being there. I think it stayed on close to a week. Once it came off, the wound was healed and new feathers had covered it.

Very smart idea and smart look! She's a Fashonista with that new head piece. Gonna make all the rest of the hens jealous, snicker, snicker. :gig

Havn't been on this thread in a while, welcome to all the new people. I don't know if this has been talked about or not, but I use electricle tape On my Silkies and polish creasts. I pull it up so they can actually see, it works great for about a week and a half or so and it starts coming off. Has any one else tried this? Oh and did i mention ROLLTIDE!!!!!!

Update on dumb chicken:

She decided to take a 'dust bath' in the raised veggie bed with soil. Oh the joys of getting THAT out of her feathers/wounds. As I was showering her I realized the water was pooling inside the skin on her belly. Creepy. I had to squeeze/rub her skin upward to get it all out

She's still filthy, but better. She's been ticked off since I only let her out this morning, but it's HOT today. All the girls are panting and walking like a kid that pooped their pants (wings out, legs out.. waddling)

No infection. Doesn't really *look* like it's healing though.. patience is not my strongest suit though. The swelling of her wing went down and she's fed up with me. So all in all I guess we're doing ok.

Expecting my other white rock to hatch my her babies between Thursday and Saturday. EXCITEMENT!

Hi, ya', Raz! Did you take the birds with you to FL? How's it going down there? Is Blu's job going well? Where are you living? How's the baby? UPDATE us!

Glad to see she's doing good. My white hen (the Escape Artist that I no longer have) was such a pain when she came out of shock.

I just wrapped her up with gauze, which she hated, for easy removal. At this point you shouldn't have to wrap her up anymore. It won't seem like it's healing at first, but after about two weeks you'll be wondering when she healed!

I want to send her pics so bad. When I get the chance I'm going to get some printed (no ink right now and it costs too much) and send them to her.

Check out snapfish.com

You can order prints online for 9-12 cents a piece and pick them up at a local walmart/walgreens, you could even have your mom pick them up at a store close to her. I had a free trial before, 20 prints shipped to me, no charge. They're great quality too.
