ALABAMA!!

I saw that www.papaspoultry.com (a member of BYC) is selling Lavender Orpington chicks and hatching eggs, as well as BBS Orpingtons. I wish I could raise them. I totally would...the prices aren't half bad on his site either. $12.00 for chicks and $4 for hatching eggs. He's got a number of other varieties available as well all seem to be heritage or rare.

Hey Y'all! I have a bit of an update for ya. I should be back by January on of two ways. One, my MIL should have her SSI by then, she just has to stop smoking. Two, Blu is trying to change jobs and if he get's the one he's after we'll be moving to Moblie where he'll have his own store. I really don't want to go from one coastal city to another, but we can't turn down the kind of money he'll be making. I just want to go back to my beloved Tri-county area. Honestly though, I just want to be back in Bama.

Mobile is not far from home! You can drive to see family every weekend if you want and maybe get a house where you can have a few chickens. Great news, Raz, I'm praying for yall.

We might get to move closer to home, but I'll take Mobile over Daytona any day! I honestly can't wait to be somewhere that I can have chickens again.

um...I don't know where the picture went that I commented on above...but it was a rooster (named Stevie) sun bathing after a lot of rain. Haha - sorry for the confusion!

I wouldn't use corn. "Could" produce nasty yellow fat around the organs. We fattened our dorkings for butchering with wheat bread, egg, and buttermilk along with whole grains: oats and wheat. Very tasty end product!

How much wheat bread and such would you say you put out per chicken per day? We had a natural hatch and I estimate they should be of age for processing around the mid of January.
