I like the way you did that a lot , and also I really like your coop too . Thanks , I wanted to know a better way to water , now I am going to the tractor place , I have the bucket brand new , they are $ 2.50 at Home Depot.

Oh thank you! You do want to make sure the bucket is food grade plastic, from what I've been reading. Our coop is nothing fancy! Wisher1000 shared with me her favorite coop/run design and it was perfect for what I wanted. We used a lot of reclaimed wood and metal roofing from a boat house that was taken down and my BFs dad helped us a LOT with the construction and design. I haven't decided yet if out want to paint it or keep the multi-colored look going I kinda like it. It's worked great thigh! No problems with predators so far (knock on wood) and no problems with all the storms!

We used the TSC buckets for waterers. They're food grade (guess some folks use them as feed buckets)

Perfect! I worked next to a Chinese restaurant and asked them if I could have some with tops. A couple of days later, she gave me four! I'm gonna use one to start fermenting their feed, after I build a plastic feeding trough for it.

Will you post pics of the outside of your coop I would love to see the multi colors because I have always like multi colors I think it would make it look good

Sure! Multi-colored might have been a bit misleading. More like everything was different colors, lol! The natural wood, some white painted wood and the green metal roofing, here are some pics:

Oh, Dfly! It looks great! I think you will be very happy with that for a long time! I really like that the bottom section is solid and there will be no "cornering" from preditors. I also like that they can get on the lower roosts to catch the breezes in the summer. I'll bet there are plenty of rays of sunshine that fall on the floor and plenty of shade available if it is too hot. You have lucky birds.

Thank you! I'm really pleased with how it turned out. My BFs dad had a bunch of reclaimed wood and metal roofing and that came in really handy! We sunk the metal 18" into the ground and poured concrete in the trench around the whole thing. I don't have any roosts at the back where the shelter is more just yet, but like you said, I thought the roosts in the open at the top would have a nice breeze. I'll add roosts to the back when it starts getting colder. They get a lot of shade and the sun comes in a nice block on the front and side. Just enough to lay out in it and I copied Oz's egg box design with the flap access on the back. We were so lucky to have Hunters dad helping us! Lots of friends and the roommates all pitched in too. And you were right, it took way longer than we thought! Those chicks were huge and getting crowded! You should've seen how happy they were when we put them in the big coop!
