HA HA HA HA! This is me exactly, when I told hubby we had another broody, he got this serious look on his face and ask me if I was buying a bigger freezer, for when I have to kill 20 + or - birds. NOTE he said I was going to do it, not him,and not us, but me!

I moved to Russellville in 1995 ,then we found this house last year and moved to the big city of Phil Campbell lol, but I love living in this neck of the woods. It's so peaceful. And as soon as we get the rest of the land fenced we are planing on expanding our family to include some goats for sure and maybe other animals but we cant agree yet on what we want.Right now im just happy with my chickies and my 2 furry children.
Today when I got home from work I went to check on my chicks ,and I always do so with a hand full of dried meal worms, today I was greeted by all the lil peeps they are already used to me.Made my whole day worth while.:ya

I have been hearing a lot about meal worms . I live in Pell City Al is there anywhere close I can buy some to give to my chickens :)

Tractor supply carries large bags of them dried. You can also get them on Ebay.

Well, Foghorn was a-crowing this morning. I happened to be in the bathroom, I wouldn't have heard him over the a/c unit in our window.... I wonder how many weeks he's been at it. I'm looking into solutions, I quite like him... I could put him indoors every night. Or get a crow collar. The surgery sounds a bit too iffy when it comes to end result. Only 50/50 chance you like what you get.

Wish me luck.

You have to let me know if the collar works.

Ooohh!! @Tomtommom , I ordered one and mine should be here today or tomorrow! I had to get one for my daughter's little bantam rooster in our backyard - he's REALLY vocal, lol! I'm interested to see if it works. We'll have to compare notes!

I sure will! Orps, I think that little black and white bird I got from you is a cockerel.. sure starting to look like one. So if this works, hooray, because I really want to keep that one. Foghorn is my test subject

If it doesn't work, I got time to work on something else.

I was looking at youtube on no crow collars. There is a person that made one out of 2" Velcro. I got to see if I can find it again.

I saw that video. It looked so stiff though... like that would get irritating. I like the "no crow" tag, if the city ever comes and fusses about me having a rooster I can be like "look, he cant bother people. so they need to get over it."

Anyhoo. I need the help of those near me. We found a dog.... Or well, she found us.

Please share it with people in our area (Montevallo, but hey, try toward Jemison, Helena, Pelham, Calera, Alabaster, toward Bibb county... you never know)

OK, got my No Crow Collars today. I ordered a small and a medium just to be safe. It said for a bantam Cochin a small, but Tractor is a little big and is a frizzle with tons of feathers on his neck, so I was skeptical about a small working. Well, he pulled the small off in under 2 minutes. I tried the medium, which had more room for a more secure fit. I didn't tighten it all the way, but I didn't leave it too loose. He was not able to pull it off, but boy he hates it. Henit only tried to back out of it, but tried to do flips to get out if it. He would settle down for a while then start fighting it again. I just checked him again and he is settled in for the night, thankfully, so I am really curious how that 4:30am wake-up crow is going to sound.
