ALABAMA!!

Hi Orps!

I have a question for you. I am guessing those are your babies in your profile pic. Are they BBS Orps? If so where did you get them? We only have 3 Buffs at present but I am wanting to add some of the other varieties like Chocolate, Gold Laced Black, Jubilee etc... but I love the BBS too, so pretty. I was hoping you purchased them in somewhere in Alabama. :) Thanks!
The orps came from a BYC member but she stop breeding them. The person she got it from is in Bowen, GA but she stop breeding them too. I was sad that they both stopped. Those orps where HUGE. They weigh around 11lbs and we are talking about hens!!! They were very friendly. They acted like dogs.

The babies were BBC silkies. I couldn't hands on anymore English Orps without spending a fortune. Like around $10 an egg! However there is a person up in Bessemer that has Chocolate Eng Orps that looks pretty decent. I think he is selling them for $25 a chick.

There are a couple of other places where they posted they have English orps for sale but they really didin't look like it in the pictures.

Now there is a lady in South AL that has the prettiest English Orps ever

(show quality) but I never asked about how much she sell her birds for . I'm guessing we are looking at $100 a chick.
She is also a member of BYC

Sorry that I am not much help.

The hunt for a rir roo is still on. :banghead: I just can't seem to find one. One duck is gone and 7 more to go. Two are basically sold to a friend. He just wants Blu to slaughter them when they finish moulting. Then I'll be down to three boys and two girls. :D

Our little rooster died! I can hardly believe it. I was in the coop last night, I pet him a bit (he's really skittish, but I was able to pet him) and this morning I found him laying dead in the coop. After autopsy I think he died from congestive heart failure, his body cavity was FILLED with yellow liquid

Genetic no doubt, as he was a very VERY lean bird (not an ounce of fat on his body). I must've pushed his stress levels over the edge petting him... ofcourse it was just a matter of time, considering how much fluid was present.

I am heart broken.. after losing my sweet Foghorn, I moved all my hopes to this fellow and now he's gone too.

One little EE left... I don't think Johnathan will ever get his blue egg layers.

I'm surprise you haven't found a roo yet. But keep looking I'm sure you will find one sooner or later.

We haven't even seen any at the feed store. Now that's a shock. They usually have a bunch this time of year.
dothan.craigslist...farm and garden section. Under the title "heavy breed roosters". Someone north of troy has 3 rir roosters for sale $10 each. I cant copy/paste

I'll have to look at it when I get on the comp. Thanks!
