ALABAMA!!

The EEs were mostly a reddish brown with a gold or blond neck trimmed in black. The EE rooster was white with gold tinted shoulders. The other 2 roosters were BCMs. I set about 25 that were fertile, only 5 didn't hatch. They were coming off a molt.

Tomtommom - I really am just torn. I know it is because of losing the adults the way I did. I would have happily given you all of them, as long as I had the hens to give me more eggs. At the same time, they are just mutts (well, there are some hatchery quality BCMs in there that should lay nice dark eggs.) I guess I got too attached to my egg flock. Did I tell you I kept an old production red hen that isn't even laying anymore? I'm such a sap.

We all got birds like that.

If we weren't saps we wouldn't be half as pleasant to be around.

Keep it up, you two!

There's the first pic of the babies, aren't they cute? I kept all the ugly ones and sent the cute ones home with Tomtommom. I was also able to take a ride through the woods with a handsome young man and to play with the sweetest little baby girl feets..... it was lovely!

Now don't forget, you promised lots and lots of pics of those birds as they grow. I hope they are all pullets.

Aw.. kept all the ugly ones. There's no such thing as an ugly chick!

Thomas had a marvelous time. And I'm loving these fuzzballs. They're so calm. They're totally ok with being picked up. Had to show them the heat plate, but they all got it figured out now. Chickiepizza. Pick up the plate and they're all SPLAT flat and sleeping

Hey y'all! We are outside of HSV and loving it! (we moved here 2 years ago). We have Japanese black tailed whites (for now, wanting to branch into egg and meat chickens later. Right now we just have the "show" chickens :) ).
