Now this is cool,,,so many Alabamians, I'm real close to Tuscaloosa,,,and sorry,,,I'm not a huge football fan, ever since the Bear was gone, football's never been the same.
We have americanas, australorps, partridge rocks, light(or white) sussex, and one meaaaan black minorca rooster. Have jersey giants, buff orps, broilers, and something else ordered on the way.

How do I add pictures to a post???
Thanks

Welcome kowgurl62 !! To answer your question on how to add pics, look at the very top line of topics and in the last topic (Forum FAQ's) you will find the answer. And we would love to see your pics.

Hey kowgurl62,

Welcome. I'm a "new egg" here too and completely new to the whole chicken thang! I live in Hoover and I'm wondering where you're getting your buff orps from.

We want to get some about the end of March or so, but I only want 5 so I'd like to get them locally instead of paying $40 for shipping 5 chicks.

Karen

I live in Hoover as well. Bluff Park to be exact. I just called city and hall and found out there is no law against chickens in city limits. Right now I am trying to decide between chickens and quail.

Does anyone have quail in the Birmingham area? I would like to buy some eggs for my family to taste? My wife wants to know what they taste like before we buy the birds.

Why not both? LOL! The eggs are really small compared to chicken eggs. I love my quail and my chickens. My chickens have been laying since Jan. 1st when they became of age. My quail laid last year but have not started this year. Hopefully as the days get longer they will lay. They are outside.
