Do you have hawks nearby? We do and that is why I sit outside when I let my chickens out.

So what's the plan if you see a hawk come swooping in? I let mine out in the evening too and there are hawks nearby, but I'm not sure there's enough room in my small backyard for them to fly in to get one of my birds. I'm not sure what I'd do if I saw one coming. I know what the law is, but I still think I'd try to "hit one out of the park" with a shovel if I saw him in time.

my backyard is small also. I hope that if I am sitting there the hawk will see me and leave the chickens alone. I read that if you have enough stuff in your yard they want fly in. They have to be sure they can escape. I have lots of trees so they may not can even see the chickens.I guess if one came in I could throw my chair at it or run after it with a stick.

I haven't either but I would love to! I think it's just a place for people to sell/buy chickens!
