ALABAMA!!

We love our Polish. I do have to say this, they are quite different. At least mine are.
I have 7 separate coops, by breeds and colors.
Silkies and separated by color/breeding specifics,
My 1 polish breed and my POLKIES = Polish x Silkie chicks, which are in a grow out coop..
My main roo, Genghis, has such a huge personality and is nothing like anything I have read about the breed, totally opposite...
His brother, Dennis Roddman, is typical of what I have read...
Mr. Roddman needs a flock all of his own. I may have to build a new coop for him...
I have 2 different ages of chicks right now and hope to build a strong flock.. I have had a harder time locating these Black/white crested polish around here...
Let me know if you locate any.. Im willing to travel as well....

There is a breeder of Polish in Clanton or Calera in the state, she didnt have any of the BWC. I can look for her information and pass it on to you as soon as I find it..
Polkies sound absolutely adorable! I've heard of silkie/cochins a lot but, never really any polish crosses. Sounds like you have a good set up and some really interesting birds. if I come across any bwc I'll definitely let you know - but you sound way more connected than me 😆

If you do locate the clanton/calera breeder let me know!

I will. I am waiting on my friend to text me with it.

These are a few of the Polkies...

How are everyone's ducks in this arctic blast? We are leaving ours in their coops - doors locked (vents open) - we are moving their food dishes and extra water bowls inside their coops and just keeping them in the coops until the wind chill issue is over? Anyone else?

I was wondering the same., including chickens. None of mine have experienced any weather like this. My adults are all around 3. The rest are 10 months and under (chickens).
We locked all of ours up in their houses, doors closed and vents open.. I removed all the waterers late last night. I gave them all fresh this morning. I hate dealing with frozen waterers. I am stubborn and wont buy the waterer heaters...
I set an alarn for 3 this morning. I wanted to check on all my coops. They were all fine, looking warm and content. I couldnt believe how cold ot was.

Hi all! We are in north central AL and in search of a Buff Orpington roo and 3-4 Black Australorp or Delaware hens. Laying hens or pullets preferred over chicks or hatching eggs. Willing to drive if necessary. :)
