have had 3 buff orpingtons for 9 months now, built a new, larger coop, thought I'd done my homework and bought 3 barred rocks at Collinsville trade day yesterday-brought the 3 new girls home and put them in coop with the buffs-immediate fighting between the boss orp and the obviously boss rock-looked like a cock fight-let the orps out to free range and got them all up at dark-literally sat the rocks on the roost with the orps. was at the coop at 6am waiting for them to come off the roost to see how they'd act-all the orps pecked at the rocks, but no real fighting. coop opened, orps came out, followed by rocks, but orps chased rocks back in coop. now rocks are hunkered down in coop while orps are doing there thing around the pond. hoping for the best, since I don't have another coop to separate them. hoping everything works out!

Rancher,

yep Auburn did win something or other.that makes 2 championships

year before last Bama won something or other too.......that made......13 for us

Hey, how's everyone's hatching going? The mutt eggs I put in are going into lockdown today(my very first hatch), and out of all the eggs, I think only 4 were not fertile. I can't wait for my daughter to get back from Gulf Shore today so i can show her the chicks in the eggs. Also put 13 BCM and 11 buff orpington eggs in Friday.

Well if you count the set date 3/4 4:10 pm. The eggs I got from Alabama and mine are hatching early either one or two days. So far there are 3/4 silky. 3/3 ee's, 1/2 del and 2 unknowns. Either bbs or rir. I think bbs though. So that's 9/21 so far. Can't believe they started early. I didn't get the chance to take the turner out. So far they are ok. I just hate to have to clean the turner. It'll be worth it for a great hatch.

Also got my lav, blk, buff and whte orpingtons from hinkjc farm. It's very busy with chicks. Got a broody on five too but she won't hatch for a while.

Snow again today 3-6 inches. OUCH! My bones just can't take much more cold.

Take care and hope to be there soon.

I hadn't planned on getting any whites but when i saw them in the yard they were really nice so i said give me some of those too. Her buff roos are very big. She did tell me she breeds not just for appearance but to bring back the dual quality of the breed.

She does sell hatching eggs if your interested enough to order.
