ALABAMA!!

Ideal has some. I have not tried Barnevelders from them, but I have ordered other breeds and had a good experience . You can place a small order with them, as long as it comes to 25.00. Most places it is 25 birds. As a suggestion, I would order about 15 and keep the 12 I liked best. The ones that I ordered were true to type. Their site says they are sold out until the Fall. However, if you get on their wait list they will notify you if they have any before that. Their website is http://www.ideal-poultry.com/

South Alabama here - my husband and I raised chickens years ago, and just recently decided to start again. We are trying to get a small flock of Barnevelders, but so far we have gotten only 1 chick out of 12 eggs! Really wish we could find someone in this part of the country who has barnies!

THANK YOU!

So I was wondering if anyone in Baldwin, Mobile, or even Escambia counties will be processing their own birds in the future? I'll be butchering my own soon enough, and even though I've read up on it a good bit, I'd really like some hands on instruction. So anyone looking for an extra set of hands and willing to show a newbie a thing or two, if you could shoot me a message it'd be VERY much appreciated.

is anyone on here close to mobile al ? I live in bayou la batre. I need to find some new chickens ! I want a frizzle and not sure where to get them at! I would love a serama but a little expensive for me!
I'm not close to you, I'm just south of Huntsville but I had luck on craigslist, eventually. There were many misses but I finally found some started pullets that were raised well. I'd check there.

I would also put this in the Meat Birds section. There was a thread for matching up people that wanted to learn with people who wanted to teach but I couldn't find it just now.
Before my first time I was hoping to get some hands on experience but it never happened. If you aren't able to find anyone to show you, have a back up plan in case your first attempt doesn't go as planned. (I started and was going to use and axe, just couldn't bring myself to do it and now I slit the throat)
Also maybe post on craigslist in the farm section.
