They are at the house now, so be sure and call first so I know you're coming.

Do you remember when we candled which eggs we thought were NOT viable? I remember thinking that we'd get 6 from these 8 - but can't remember the two we thought might not hatch? I think it was the NJ and one of the BCM. That was NOT a pip on the NJ egg - it's dirt.

Well just wait and see what happens there. The BCM's were a problem because they are so hard to see into. They might come through for you yet!

Sounds good, how many more days you think we should wait? Technically, yours shouldn't have started hatching til today... so.... two more days? The 3rd maybe take a look and see? I might pull that NJ egg tomorrow if it doesn't hatch - don't want explosions!

Hey...so, what's the deal with Turkeys? Brian said we can get one or two of the chocolate turkeys listed on CL, but I only want them if they can live with the chickens and eat the same stuff. Can they? Maybe if I supplement them a bit with gamebird or CalfManna for higher protein?

Also, how long does it take them to grow out? I think these are 2.5 months old. Will they be big enough for Thanksgiving and Christmas? (Their proposed names.) Will my Delawares pick on them?

Can't believe we're even talking about it. As it stands, I need to edit what I have. I think I'm either going to have to move the three Brahma girls in with the Orloffs or get rid of them. The poor things are getting picked on pretty bad, even by Cheeto the Chantecler.

I also need to find a home for two nice little Delaware roos as I saw them scrapping today and I've figured out which one of the three I want to keep.

And, non-chicken related, I have three cute little red rabbits that need a home! If anyone was interested in Thriantas, one of the best breeders in the states lives up here and is liquidating her herd right now. She could get you a couple of nice does, paired with one of these bucks from her lines would be a killer start!

Rachel,

I have raised turkeys with chickens up here for many years without problems. (knock on wood) I was told by a couple of different folks who I trust....that although it's not
impossible to contract blackhead disease it's not as common up here as it is in the states. However it is a gamble......
