Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

It looks like I have a second layer. Only this one laid a soft shelled egg ... In the run.

. How long til that changes? Was that just a fluke?

I don't do Facebook either. I was wondering why things were so quiet.

I was feelng convicted about the amount of time I spend on here, so I guess this wil just make it easier. If anything particularly noteable or interesting happens, please post here, or PM me. Now I'll go back to my regularly scheduled life.

I'm glad you're getting eggs, Carmen. I'm still waiting, even on the older girls. It IS quiet around here!
Congrats, and I hope you start seeing lots of eggs!

I"m not on here much cuz I'm not really hatching anymore. Paring down for winter, and nothing exciting going on. Wait until Feb...

And seriously... next year, my last hatch will be mid August for the Fair, and THAT'S IT!! Momma is tired...

Wait for it... wait for it... hubby will chime in soon... I can hear him now... "yeah... I'll believe it when I see it."

Tori, in the spring I want to get some Korfus Kluckers blue and splash babies.

Also, the three we got from you last month we have named Charlotte (bcm with copper hackles), Renee (bcm with little to no neck coloring), and Oozles (Blu orp). Charlotte is more gregarious than the others and Oozles must be at the bottom of the pile cuz she is always looking over her shoulder. We sure do like them.

You got it.

I'm going to have one pen of just splash one day. I have one Splash cockerel from Miss Prissy - he's beautiful, but taller and lankier than KK's orps. I have two blue boys from KK, one dark blue hen, and two splash (one light, one dark). They're starting to squat, so by spring they should be laying consistently.

I'm going to experiment with different breedings. I still have Bob and a couple of his girls, but I may try to find retirement homes for them soon. I'm liking the more English look (fluffier, shorter) of the new Orpingtons.

I'm so glad they're doing well... I may have been premature in letting some of the girls go... the boys are just now getting their color, so I should have waited a little longer to see what's what. Oh well.

Cest la vie. When the girls start laying, let me know how dark their eggs are, wouldya?
