Well, what exactly is "poor"? One a week? More, less?

From Purely Poultry:
The Orloff is a tall, well-feathered chicken with a somewhat game-like appearance. The head and neck are very thickly feathered. Their plumage, combined with their tiny walnut comb, small earlobes and minuscule wattles, makes the Orloff a very cold hardy breed. Males generally weigh 8 pounds, and hens weigh 6.5 pounds. Orloffs are primarily suited to meat production, but hens are reasonable layers of light brown eggs and do not go broody. In temperament, they are known to be calm birds.

Here's another:

The Orloff is tall, with an upright stance, resembling the Malay. The thick feathers have a moderate fluff, with abundant saddle feathers and short sickle feathers in the rooster's tail, which is held erect. The small red earlobes, small comb and diminutive wattles make the breed especially cold hardy. Chicks are also hardy, and pullets begin laying at six months. The round head of the Orloff has full muffs and a beard. The medium neck is well arched. The dark beak is short and well curved. The eyes are full, bright and bay with heavy lids. Slow growers, the males eventually average eight pounds and hens 6.5. The hens lay about 160 small to medium, light brown eggs per year, and are not generally broody. Some flock owners report higher egg production. After Orloff hens molt, they return to production quickly. The birds are friendly and easily handled, but they tend to avoid human contact. They do well in confinement, so they would make a nice addition to a backyard flock - if you can find them.

Definitely worth a try then. I have an astrolorp here (the best recorded layer was one of these) and she is a 2-3 egg a week chicken max. Sweenie (Sable's baby from Tori) goes 2 weeks laying every day before she takes a day off ... So you never really know...
Kaasan took my bunny......
