Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Quote:
I do have a barrel. I didn't do the deal, since my DH has things lying around I knew we could use. I did buy the instruction book, and luckily we have a motor that has the rpms recommended. I did order the fingers from the wizbang website though.
Our meat birds will be ready at the end of August. We got the Cornish Roasters from Murray Mcmurray. I'm trying to decide what to make the feather plate out of. I might buy a piece of the plastic like he uses in the book. My DH wants to make the frame out of metal so we wouldn't have to worry about the wood rotting, and he has other ideas, so, I'll let him run wth it, lol.

Goodnight Donna, WW, Aimee....Tori...and anyone else watching this episode of "BYC Turns" Stay tuned......WW might actually have photos of her new bunny to show off!

Deb, no pics of babies tonight, but here are a couple of pics of my MeatieMobile...The one the dog tried to break into.

Okay, I am really getting off now.

This will be my last post for the night as well.

I was telling you all about the fishing line being strung over the top of your birds...I tried hard to get good photos but I wanted to show
you what it looked like from close up and from a far........so you get the idea

Now you see it......

I REALLY need to find a grass seed that'll grow anywhere (clay & mud).....all this brown stuff is driving me batty. I will know next time to buy a home that is already established.....I hate starting from scratch! I make it a point
each day to let the birds out so they can forage. It's not fair to them to be cooped up on dirt...it actually makes me feel bad!

I know what you mean Deb. They make short work of the grass anyhow, it wouldn't last long. I've thought about buying sod! Sometimes companies have scraps, and I thought if I could get a few chunks to put in the run when they're not free ranging, every now and then, they'd be happy.

Carmen, it was nice meeting you, too! I hope the babies settle in nicely!

I'm going to post some pics for WW, and then head out to do the chores. Hopefully today will be a little quieter after yesterday's Grand Central Station... 4 more people stopped by after you left!

I tell you what... if I wasn't doing the chicken thing, I'd be whole-hog into the rabbits. MUCH less work, and the meat (I think) is better than chicken. We have 17 "static" rabbits (LOTS of babies right now) ~ 4 Flemish, a couple of NZ, a pair of Californians, and lots of crosses.

Oh Wait!! Erin (Kodiakchicken) is stopping by this morning on her way to Idaho!! Ack! Time to get a move on!!

Good morning Alaska BYCers!

Thought this was a CHICKEN forum??? All I see is BUNNIES!! lol I've had an Angora bunny, MANY MANY years ago, they're pretty neat.

Cadbury - love the name. Color? Siamese?

BB I LIKE the meaty tractor... and how the wheels are on there... I am in the process of building another tractor, might modify a bit to accommodate the wheels like yours.
