Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Amber didn't take, it was pretty devastating (to me) to hear that she was not carrying any pups. But it looks
as though we'll try again in December. That will give us a spring litter if all works out.

I was really hoping she was going for it! Next time all good vibes for her....

I came home to the hawk in the run!
It killed my Amerucana I got from Tori,

She was so beautiful and almost to laying point, and one of my cinnamon queens. I walked to the gate of the run and it was in there eating her, when it saw me it just flew straight up between the fishing lines. They're about 6 inches apart. Tomorrow I'm off to get the poultry netting to put up.
This has been the worst year for me and my chickens.
Worst.Year.Ever.

I think it was a hawk, it could have been a baby eagle I suppose.

Aimee, that is terrible!! I'm so sorry!!

Tyler, two more options....have you called Triple D? He has shipped birds, but atleast you can pick out what you want. Another option would be to order the box of 25 "surprise specil pullets" from Ideal for $1.40 each plus fees which would bring it up to about $50. I live in Anchorage and would be happy to receive them for you if that would cut off a day of travelling time for them. You could then make arrangements to come get them, knowing they were being fed and cared for--as long as you come pretty quick.

IIF, another option is. I can pick them (Triple D) up on my way to Anchorage when I go to get hubby at the airport...take them in to Carmen who then can hand them off
to you? I'd be happy to help out with their first part of the trip. Thats if Tori doesnt have anything.....I'd check with her first.

Oh Aimee! I am so sorry! I wonder why my set up works? Do you think maybe it's the trees blocking
mine from view?
