Yeah, I would like more fat for winter and working dogs, too. Mine is just a lazy bum indoor dog, though, so she does well.
I asked about the price of kelp meal at Budget as that is an excellent vitamin/mineral supplement for all of the animals. It's over $100 a bag. That may be part of where the price goes up, as well as the fact that that guy gets his stuff from M&F and has the raw products run through their pellet mill. I'd just as soon not pelletize the stuff, and mix it into a warm mash of some kind.
I guess the dog food is a little high protein for chickens, but certainly it works in a pinch.
