Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

The light comes on at 6am and goes out around 9pm. Do you think I should go until 10 or start earlier in the morning? Seems like my roo starts crowing around 5:30 in the morning. Lets see, they were hatched June 1, 2010 so that makes them just over 21 weeks. Hmmm, maybe I just want them to be over achievers.

Just be patient.

That's the part I'm not so good at. My daughter was very encouraging..."Mom, it's okay. They will be laying by Christmas...maybe."

Depending on the breeds, she may be right.

24 weeks/6 months is the average, but I've had Orps wait until 7. And lights usually don't affect the young layers, only the older ones. The pullets should start laying and continue right through winter.
