You silly... what were you looking for? Rebecca's coming down for Memorial Day, and hubby's coming up this Friday. The turkeys I have right now are spoken for, but I still have eggs incubating and will be setting more.

Yeah...even though I'm "allowed" to ship chicks, I still really am limited because I have to go to Anchorage to ship them.

So I just don't ship chicks. But there's always someone coming up there or coming down.

I've been going back and forth on this turkey thing for a while, how big will a BR be at say 24 weeks?

Should be just about full grown. Are you looking for a dinner, or breeders?

I'm going to send Ronny out another set of BR eggs on Monday. Hopefully, these will fare better than this current batch.

You Alaska folks have a much harder time getting things to you in good shape-I feel for you! Took us twice with the Orps to get more than one bird to hatch, didn't it Tori?

Ladies is there anywhere in the Valley to buy the nipple waterers? Hubby checked at Animal Food Warehouse and they didn't have. He'll stop at Budget Feed on the way back, if not there, is there anyplace else?

Cyn,

You and Ronnie might have them shipped to someone in Fairbanks and pick them up there. Priority mail is two (maybe 3) days to Fairbanks, it's a proven fact that when you
start having things shipped outside of the "hubs" it takes another day or two on top of that because they truck them to the area post offices......Just an idea! Priority mail is usually two days to Wasilla...the longest I have
ever waited was a third day and that was the last set of Polish eggs I just got...

They also Rush them if they are marked eggs, just like our chicks they get priority over all other mail. But I know most folks don't like their boxes marked....

Looks great Ash! The only other thing that I would do (or have done) was poke a hole
into your coop/shed and place another cage on the inside. Just something simple so you can keep their food
and water inside and they get out of the elements in the winter....Doing it that way, you won't lose any
cage space and they get the whole cage to fly around in.

EDIT: I just noticed something else. I would probably split the doors in half so that you can open
up a smaller door instead of the whole thing.....They are flighty little birds and are VERY agile when
it comes to getting away.

I'm just thinking about Thanksgiving...which is November....25th this year.
So if they were hatched by Sunday, May 16th, I'd have 27-28 weeks to grow it up.
