Everyone has such pretty chicks!! May can't come too soon to suit me. Thanks for looking at Goliath's comb pictures. This probably sounds silly, but how would I treat it with an antibiotic? If I put it in the water then everybody gets it. He free ranges at my folks ranch and there are water pans in atleast four places that I can think of. Do you think this is something he could pass on to offspring? I am hoping to get hatching eggs from him and his harem.
Ok due to interest from a few local people we have set another 30 eggs this morning at 9:59am the incubator was turned on; after weights were taken on each egg, and they were numbered for easy reference, they were candled for shell quality, these are due to hatch April 8th.
there are
3 Light Brahma x EE
6 Pure Light Brahma
9 Light Brahma x Barred Rock
4 Light Brahma x NHR
8 Light Brahma x Black Sex Link
There are a few already spoken for, the rest will be for my projects & laying flock.
This will be my last hatch until Spring (warmer weather) actually arrives!

I asked my friend in OK about this, and this was his answer... "[my wife] thinks it could be a bite from a Brown Recluse spider. That would explain the rot going through the base of the comb and the longevity of the wound.
I would put a batadine/sugar poltice on it and treat it like Bumblefoot."
I forget about spiders here, because we don't really have a lot of them. That could explain it, though...
