9 BCM's and 4 BLRWs in the incubator and lockdown is tonight

Hatch day Saturday! Oh man....

Wooot! I am locking down 3 BLRW and 1 Buckeye tonite! Good hatching vibes!!

I got my first shipped eggs today from North Carolina. She sent 15 Buff Orpington eggs and only one had a slight crack in it. I waxed it over so we will see. She shipped out Monday morning and I got the call to pick them up at noon today. Not bad for the USPS.

PoultryPeeps is that you that has the Buckeye eggs on Craigslist? Do you know anyone traveling to Fairbanks anytime soon?

2 of the BLRWs had cracks and are waxed. I'll be very interested to see if they are going to make it. They were going a few days ago.

Would you believe... we hit our coldest temps yesterday here on the Peninsula at -20F yesterday morning (which in itself is amazing, after the deep freeze we had last year!)... our Mallards chose yesterday to start laying eggs.

Frozen hard as a curling stone, but it was an egg!! LOL!

But... over 100 quail hatched yesterday, and I got my first black sexlink!

Would you believe... we hit our coldest temps yesterday here on the Peninsula at -20F yesterday morning (which in itself is amazing, after the deep freeze we had last year!)... our Mallards chose yesterday to start laying eggs.

Frozen hard as a curling stone, but it was an egg!! LOL!

And I'm not going to complain about the -5 now, especially after hearing about the avalanches.
I know how the ducks feel doggone it... I fall for that warm spell every year

Normally I fall for it and start my spring planting.....then I rush the plants to the garden as soon as the soil is thawed....Not this year....
This year I was too busy hatching eggs to worry about the spring planting! lol

Here's the bunch of babies from this morning. I thought the hatch was done, but there are still a handful of eggs in there and ONE is peeping...

I guess I'll leave it on for now.
