Nope, no...nadda.....

I wouldn't mind raising a couple of "P" birds....(just because I have no idea how to pronounce or spell it) but they would
have to go home once they grow up. The Dellies leave tomorrow and that'll just leave the two BCMs. I'd hate for them
to have to be on their own.....

But then again, I'll have my hands full come the 21st, 200 meat birds!

Oh no, only 25 of those are ours. We have a friend who ordered 50 and another who ordered 25...that type of thing.
We just told them this year we were not raising them and they were to be here the DAY they came in....

Paula I might have to talk to Jim about that, he's always against those things though and says he hates the idea
of his meat getting "beat up" like that. I know from watching video's it isn't that bad, but he has it in his head.....

Well, I was sure glad I read Deb's post about Triple D before I cruised south this week. I am absolutley shocked though that he would leave those older birds out in the main part of the store for every customer to see. Their legs were so rolled up and crippled that my heart was absolutely breaking for them. One had a leg caught in the door while the other leg was caught in the wire. I opened the door and got his legs unstuck but he still couldn't walk. I don't know if they are going through some difficulties this year or what but the birds didn't seem as well cared for or as well cleaned as I've seen in the past. It was really very sad. For the first time ever, I walked out of there empty handed.

I've been using AMF for all of my birds and haven't had any problems whatsoever but I also routined add "Vi-Tal" to the chick water so maybe that's making the difference????

Was bored for a few minutes and thought I'd hang out with the older chicks in the coop.


Opened the door and all I saw was a community bathing session.....Splint is there at the front of the pack on the right. You can just
see it in their faces "How dare you interrupt us!"...

Here is a boy that'll probably stay here with us and one of the girls...

This is a boy I'll probably kick myself for placing but he doesnt have a whole lot of copper. His body is beautiful and his comb is nice too!

This is the same boy from above that'll probably stay here..Depends on what I get out of this next hatch from Cree...

And one of the Dellie boys that's staying...(I think) He has really nice color to his legs and I just like his over all attitude!

Miss Deb, you might as well kick yourself now, because that roo is worth keeping around.

I have 3 boys growing out from the eggs I hatched in February, and I'll keep them until at least July before making any choices on who to keep.

Been a busy morning, and I just can't catch a break on my sleep. 7:30am call from the PO to come get my chicks... I've been fighting with them ever since to keep them alive.

Most are fine, but of course the rarer breeds are more fragile, and I keep losing them.

Lots of visitors this morning, a few chicks went to new homes, cleaned a couple of pens, played musical birds/eggs, and now we're waiting for a load of topsoil to be delivered to fill in the "swamp" in the backyard.

I'm exhausted.

Oh, Deb... I did get one baby to hatch from SoCalMarans' eggs so far. Others are still moving, just not pipped yet.
