Albany, NY Chick

Thank you for the link, I was trying to find how to find local posts! The coop I found is about 15 square feet including the nesting boxes. I've seen places say 2 sq ft per bird but that seemed way to small. So this would be about 5sq ft per hen but that does include the nesting boxes. That doesn't include the open air metal mesh run below it though. I was thinking of setting the whole thing on cement slabs to keep the mud away a bit and make it easier to clean. Please let me know if this doesn't sound like a good plan! Unfortunately I don't have the skills to build a coop and lumber is expensive these days!
If it's a prefab, it will probably need a bit of modification to make it livable, even for 3. Ventilation is one thing it probably doesn't have enough of.

Depending on what it would cost you, you might want to consider modifying a shed instead. You'll be able to walk in, which is nice when you need to clean, and you'll have room to store chicken supplies. You'll also have more flexibility for roosts and nestboxes.

Chickens like to scratch, and cement won't yield any bugs or other goodies! If you want to raise it (which is a good idea, since that space underneath likely isn't very high), put it on bricks or blocks within your run. Put an extra block under the ramp, too.
