Albino Welsummer?!

Ah - yes - "Del-summer", that would be exactly what it is. Wow.

I think it must have been an accident that she included a mixed egg in the batch though - this egg was very dark like the welsummer eggs and it says in her "Del-summer" auction that the eggs are lighter. I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt that she didn't realize she was including a mutt in the batch of eggs. [I know she should have had them separate if she's selling as "purebreds", I'm just saying I don't have the feeling it was an intentional substitution].

I certainly couldn't tell the difference looking at the eggs myself.

The other 3 that hatched were wonderful, and my fertility rate with these eggs was 100% [only 4 made it out of the shell, but that is still great for shipped eggs].

So, I'll just consider it the cost of doing business since I still got 3 great looking welsummers out of 5 eggs - that is not a bad ratio at all for shipped eggs. [too bad 2 of the 3 look to be roos - definitely my luck! LOL!]

Thanks for enlightening me! It *is* a pretty chick regardless, I really hope its a girl!!!

Hmmmm.... I read that thread, and it definitely sounds/looks like she got some non-welsummer chicks there.

But, mine looked a lot different than hers did. In the pic below, the "Delsummer" mix is the brownish light gray one just right & up from center - it has the chipmunk stripe, it just looks lighter. You can see the other three actual Welsummer chicks from the same hatch - they are the reddish chipmunk ones in the pic [one of them is still wet in that pic and facing the camera]. Here is the pic:

So, whatever the other poster had, it doesn't look anything like what I got. I checked, it doesn't look like the original poster has updated that thread - I'd be REALLY curious to know what those yellow ones feathered out to look like.

Do you know if it was the same seller for all 3 of us?

If it WAS the same seller for sure, then it does look like she is definitely selling something "other" than Welsummers as Welsummers. That is really unfortunate.

Thanks for letting me know about this.

I seem to have the same problem. I ordered a Welsummer bantam from My Pet Chicken, and it's white with black on it!

P.S. I know this thread is really old, but I figured I'd post it anyway. ;)

Looks like an Easter Egger bantam to me with those green legs.
