Good to know I'm not the only one who forgets!

It's because a coon killed her and then dragged her up into the barn loft.....my mom (who cleaned her remains up because I couldn't) said that it ate her breast and her head.

I'm so sorry!

Speaking of coons, I am recovering of shock because about 15 minutes ago I was downstairs and my grandma and grandpa and my dad were upstairs and they heard a commotion down at the chicken coop so they told me and I went down and all the chickens were in different directions but they were all avoiding the coop. So I looked around and saw a pile of feathers and I was doing a silent prayer that the hens were OK. So I looked in the coop and saw a fluffy tail in one of the nesting boxes. I was also silently screaming in my head NO SAMMI NO! So I looked closer and saw A RACCON FACE peering at me. So I looked around to see how I can take care of this raccoon and one of my options was to close the door but there was a chicken inside so I didn't want the raccoon the eat Juliet but I also didn't want to leave them because the raccoon might get them all. So to my relief my dad was peeking out of our door to make sure I was OK and I yelled in a shaky voice (Did I mention that I was SHAKING ALL OVER?) DAD! THERE IS A RACCON IN THE COOP!!!!!! So my dad came down and chased it off and all the hens are surprisedly all there. Thanks be to God. No-one is bleeding or has any injuries. We set a trap if it comes back.

Would you all please do me a favor and say a little prayer for me? I just lost my first baby girl in all the time we've been keeping chickens....it was the beautiful little Silver Penciled Wyandotte bantam that came out of a case of chickhood wry neck.

I found a few feathers strewn about in the barn while I was searching for her. Well, I was okay at first, but then I came upon her remains in the loft. Then I lost it.

I'm a mess right now after having seen those beautiful little yellow feet that I admired every day bloody and lifeless. Now she's up there in Heaven with all of Lily's chickens and Crow......I'm so heartbroken. I miss Dakota so much.

Wow, sis, I'm so grateful all your beautiful girls are safe! God really did have his hand on you. We trapped and disposed of the coon that killed my little Dakota (I'm pretty sure) today, so I'm breathing easier now that it's gone. I was so afraid it was going to come back for more.
