Alicia's growout addition

We built the original 10x10 buildings in 2017, same basic style. I think my husband referred to it as a "pole barn" style? They have served us well. We changed a few things for this growout building, I made sure we got the most bang for our buck on flooring, so the floor is exactly 3 sheets of osb which meant very little cutting. The original buildings required piecing the floor together because the osb was 4x8 sheets and the floor was 10x10.

Also the originals we used clear roofing on the front for lighting, it gets a little warm In the summer. I have used shade cloth over the front of them to help keep it cool, but I have considered replacing most of the clear panels with plain metal.

The new one we just made sure the top is open but covered by hardware cloth so they get quite a but of light but not over warmed.
The originals are split into 2 inside spaces, which worked very well. Enough room for a nesting box and roosting bars

Aart I am way behind your knowledge level and building capacity but my birds seem to be happy with the home I provide and I continue to learn as we go forward. There are not any more planned additions but who knows?

I think you've done a fine job building your coops.
I was a designer for manufacturing facilities for 2 decades and just don't understand so many roosts, and now nests, in such a small space.
But hey if it works for you...go for it.
The new nesting boxes will be twins not great big ones like my originals. Most of my birds spend most of the day outside and only go inside the coop to sleep, keeping in mind they will not be locked in as the bottom of the people door will have a permanent chicken door that will always be open

Our Original thoughts were for a 40x44 steel building that had a 10x10 "coop" in each corner and covered run outside. That would have allowed us a place in between to keep hay and a storage space..yeah we had a problem with getting the building permit so we went with what we have now, the buildings are under 120 square feet whitch is where our county requires a permit.
Dont get me wrong our current set up works great for what we are doing, just not what we had initially envisioned

Good workaround, though. Those permits can be stupid expensive and difficult. Problem solving = win.
