We lost power for a whole night/day and still had a successful hatch last spring. Don't lose hope!

And don't let your mom be in charge of the 'bator ever again.

not sure if this helps, but had a broody last year early spring, it was sub zero temps at night..and would go up to high 30s to 40 during the day...she got off the nest for her eat drink and poo every day and they got COLD..I thought no way are those eggs going to hatch..but by god they did and it was still cold after they hatched she ran around the yard with those babies and when they got chilly they ran up and tickled her belly and she sat down on them..it was cute and they were none the worse for wear.. It really is a suprisde how tough they are..they are all adults now.. If I remember right there was a 3 day delay but what a suprise to hear peeps one day. I did candle them along the way and removed the duds.

That hen always does a better job than I do running around trying to adjust temps and humidity..and fretting.

Hi, my brother did that to me once. The incubator was unplugged for at least a day or two, I still had a decent hatch, so don't give up hope.

Oh, I will not. I just in the future cannot set eggs here when we have questionable weather - so through April, really. . the electric goes out too often. . .
Her's never does. . .

I'm so sorry.....double wammpy, it's your mom who doesn't share your passion and the risk to your commitment to these little lives. I lost power for a couple of hours on day 17 of an impossible hatch to begin with and I've had an incredible hatch. Like the others, more experienced then me, have said, don't give up just yet. I'll be interested to see what the comments are on delaying lockdown. Wish I could help more but just wanted to tell you how sorry I am for the situation. Sending good thoughts of fluffy butts in your life soon. I'll be following this.

I had the same thing happen to me. My DH unplugged one because he needed to run the drill and forgot to plug it back in that night. We had a crisp morning. temp inside the incubator was 65 degrees.. I was sweating bullets because this was a silver pheasant hatch..

8 hours, who knew what was going to happen.. And they were around 14-15 days.. But, I plugged it back in and crossed my fingers.. candled the eggs at 18 days and saw movement in all but 2.. All of them hatched!
As it was, the previous hatch, I had to go out of town for a week. DH NEVER turned the eggs once! all hatched anyway and that was a red golden/ lady amherst batch,\\

This time, I's investing in a new incubator with an autoturn and APC battery back up.. You nevr know and frankly, I'm tired of the heart palpatations...

My power went out for 8 hours. I keep a DC to AC outlet converter adapter in my car for the long drives to FL. ( My kids watch movies on the laptop and plug into the cigarette lighter). I took the incubator out to the car and kept the engine running using the adapter with the cigarette lighter, until the electric was restored. It worked for me, and my hatch was successful!
